Scott Van Allen from Materials Management has printed me a "par inventory worksheet" to determine par levels for our new unit. I wanted to get everyone's opinion on a few items. Does anyone use the blood tubing to the left with the chamber with the little white ball in it? I'm pretty sure we only use the standard blood tubing for all blood products. And the iv kit on the right to start an iv? Also, what are you thoughts regarding bili-masks? Do we need both kinds? I personally like the white wrap-around ones. Again, I need feedback on this one.

Monica, I think the white bili masks are more effective as they do not seem to slip off as the purple ones do.
I agree. Denise Morris said she felt the white ones caused significant molding of the micropreemie's head, therefore we'd like to use the two larger sizes of the white ones, and then the "neoshade" ones, with the sunglasses on them for the micropreemies. What do you think?
I like the white ones, but I have noticed they seem to leave a mark on top of the baby's nose when removed. The edge of the mask is not cushioned well. I'm not sure what other types are available to try.

Regarding the I.V. tubing. We don't use it, so I would stop ordering it. I really don't think we need an I.V. start kit either.
I felt the same as you Cheryl about the IV tubing and kits. They were removed from our par levels for the new unit. And the company, Neotech makes bilimasks that have "little sunglasses" on them. We've had them here and there, and people really like them for the micropreemies, so we're going to carry those and see how they work out.
I have never used either(IV and kit). I personally like the white mask but think people put them on way to tight which causes the issues. However they are difficult to use when using CPAP
